A surreal meeting of high-altitude mystique and specialty coffee craft. Our Cordyceps Drip Coffee pairs smooth Arabica with wild cordyceps from Qinghai — often regarded as one of the world’s most precious natural ingredients. Quietly luxurious, it offers an earthy, nut-led depth that hints at its Himalayan roots.
Aroma: Rich, comforting nuttiness with a touch of toasted grain — like roast chestnuts or warm wholegrain toast, layered over coffee’s natural fragrance.
Palate: Exceptionally smooth, with a gently savoury-sweet balance. Cordyceps brings soft nut notes and a hint of caramelised sweetness. The cup feels grounded and warming, with a subtle umami fullness — imagine barley malt or oats meeting deeper earthy tones. A faint, broth-like savouriness adds complexity without taking the flavour in a “soup” direction.
Finish: Long and satisfying. A lingering savoury note remains, lifted by a quiet sweetness at the back of the tongue.
Ingredient Origin: Made with genuine Himalayan cordyceps (Ophiocordyceps sinensis), known in Tibetan as yartsa gunbu — “summer grass, winter worm”. Our cordyceps is responsibly wild-harvested each summer by local gatherers on the Tibetan Plateau at elevations above 3,500 metres. The region’s extreme altitude and pristine conditions are what give cordyceps its legendary reputation. Historically reserved for emperors and nobility, it has long belonged to Tibetan and Chinese herbal traditions — prized not simply for taste, but for rarity and cultural significance. We present it here through a culinary lens, introducing its subtle character into coffee.
Note: Each serving uses a carefully measured amount — enough to be perceptible, while staying within sensible ethical and safety boundaries, given how precious this ingredient is.
Artisanal Process: Cordyceps is naturally delicate. After harvest, it is shade dried and milled into a fine powder. Every batch is lab-tested for purity before blending (including checks for fillers and heavy metals). The coffee base is a single-origin Arabica chosen for low acidity and chocolate tones — an ideal foundation for cordyceps’ gentle savoury profile. We roast to a medium level to preserve natural sweetness and align with the direction of the umami notes. During blending, the cordyceps powder is evenly dispersed through the ground coffee using a dedicated method, ensuring consistent extraction in every sachet. This is true micro-batch production — wild cordyceps is scarce, so we produce in very limited runs and treat every gram with care.
Presentation: A Jade Ivory gift box with minimalist white-and-platinum lettering, inspired by Himalayan night skies and golden morning peaks. Each drip sachet is individually airtight-sealed and finished with a subtle cordyceps illustration — refined and understated.
Exclusivity: Due to the rarity of wild cordyceps, each box is batch-numbered and includes an information card confirming the source of the cordyceps powder. The card also carries a brief ethical statement, reassuring customers that harvesting follows protective principles (no over-collection, fair payment to local gatherers). This is luxury with conscience and transparency.
Sustainable Practices: We recognise cordyceps’ environmental and cultural value. A portion of proceeds supports community initiatives in Tibetan harvesting regions, helping develop sustainable livelihoods beyond foraging — reducing dependency and pressure on wild resources. Packaging is designed to minimise impact: the outer box is 100% recyclable; individual sachets use a high-barrier biodegradable film to protect the precious contents; drip filters are compostable. We also keep packaging volume to what’s necessary, reducing overall material use.
Storage & Freshness: Store in a cool, dry place to protect both cordyceps’ delicate components and coffee freshness. Each box is labelled with roast date and “best by” date so you can enjoy it at its best. No additives or preservatives — freshness is preserved through airtight packaging alone. Our commitment to purity and freshness not only enhances flavour, it also supports our sustainability goals by avoiding chemical additions. Drinking this coffee is both a rare tasting experience and an appreciation of sourcing and packaging that respects natural limits.
