Aroma: Strong woody and earthy notes that instantly evoke a forest after rain. Roasted coffee aroma interlaces with cedar, mushroom, and cocoa. Complex and atmospheric — like a cellar of oak barrels at a winery, or a root-and-bark infusion, softened by the comforting base of fresh coffee.
Palate: Rich, powerful, and unmistakably distinctive. Reishi adds a gentle bitterness that forms the cup’s backbone — often compared to the pleasant bitterness of walnut skin. This isn’t a flaw; it’s a sought-after complexity that deepens the profile. Alongside it, nut and dark chocolate notes emerge from the interaction between coffee and mushroom. Flavour comes in layers: a subtle umami foundation (a faint suggestion of miso or truffle) rounds the cup. Despite its intensity, the coffee remains smooth, low in acidity, and satisfyingly full-bodied.
Finish: Long and soft. Roasted nuts and cocoa linger, with reishi’s woody, slightly tannic character staying gently in the background. The ending is like a square of excellent dark chocolate — a little bitter, a little sweet, and deeply satisfying. No sharp acidity or off-notes; the finish is clean with a light dryness that makes you want another sip. You may even notice a sense of calm — reishi’s “quiet magic”, as the old stories would have it.
Ingredient Origin: Made with true reishi fruiting body (Ganoderma lucidum), cultivated in the lush mountain forests of Zhejiang, China, using traditional hardwood log cultivation. Zhejiang has a long history of producing high-quality lingzhi. The name “Lingzhi” is often translated as “divine fungus”, and it has been revered for over two thousand years — appearing in Chinese art as a symbol of longevity and spiritual strength. We grow reishi in the traditional way: inoculating hardwood logs and allowing the mushrooms to mature under forest shade for a full 12 months. Compared with fast-grown bag cultivation, log grown reishi typically develops deeper flavour and higher polysaccharide content. Mature, glossy red-brown caps are hand-harvested, sliced, and gently dehydrated. We specifically select red reishi, often considered the most powerful in both flavour and folklore. Sourcing from reishi’s “home environment” helps ensure authenticity and integrity in the final blend.
Artisanal Process: We blend a fine reishi extract powder into coffee at a precise dose. The coffee base is a single-origin South American Arabica chosen for low acidity and chocolate-and-nut tones — an ideal foundation for reishi. We roast to a medium profile (City+), preserving the bean’s character while developing enough roast depth to meet reishi’s woody profile. Because reishi extract is extremely fine, we grind the coffee slightly coarser to prevent filter clogging and to keep extraction flowing evenly. This blend has been refined through extensive tasting, adjusting the reishi ratio gram by gram until the balance is right — neither ingredient dominates, yet each elevates the other.

Sustainability: We prioritise natural and recyclable materials. The outer box is sturdy board, fully recyclable — or designed to be kept and reused. We avoid plastic accessories entirely. Berry Club’s sustainability commitment is reflected in reishi sourcing too: hardwood logs come from responsible forestry, and after harvesting, the logs naturally decompose back into the forest cycle. We also source from farms that participate in replanting projects, growing new saplings to replace used wood.
Quality Assurance & Ethics: Every batch of reishi extract is third-party tested. Reishi Drip Coffee is naturally lower in caffeine, but we make no functional or health claims on that basis. From compostable filter materials to carefully respected sourcing, this blend represents a form of sustainable luxury — modern, elegant, and quietly rooted in nature’s wisdom.
